When Ali listens to music\, she perceives notes of the musical sca le as specific colours\, expressing these through abstract paintings. Ali is also an orchestral musician in her spare time\, playing violin and viol a. The music that she performs inspires some of her paintings\; other work s are inspired by the wide range of music she listens to\, or by music cho sen by a client for a commission.\n\nAli often works with patterns and geo metric forms\, creating works derived from translations of the written mus ic or analysis of recorded sounds. Other paintings are expressive synaesth etic responses\, made by directly applying the colours to the paper or can vas while listening to a specific piece of music\, or a combination of the se styles.\n\nAli is also inspired by architecture and skylines including complex cityscapes\; however\, she chooses to omit much of their detail an d represent them as simplified forms. This is an area of her practice she has been expanding to include interior and exterior architecture of specif ic places. She then combines this with her experiences of being in those s paces\, working with her same specific colour palette. During Ali’s resi dency at Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres (September 2023 – Feb ruary 2024)\, she created a series of paintings responding to the contrast ing architecture of the two theatres.\n\nAbout Liverpool Art Fair\n\nLiver pool Art Fair is an annual event\, aiming to showcase a wide range of affo rdable original art by a plethora of local artists\; providing a unique in sight into the region’s creative talent and the opportunity for everyone \, from seasoned collector to first time art buyer\, to own their own piec e of the Liverpool art world.\n\nPre-pandemic the event ran for eight year s\, launching in May 2012 as part of the inaugural Liverpool Art Month\, a t the then brand new Camp and Furnace.
