DESCRIPTION:Special opening event: Friday 27 November 2015\, 16.00 - 19.00.
Visitors are welcome to come along and meet the students and talk about t
heir work on display and festive refreshments are also available.\n\nThe e
xhibition is open Saturday 28 November 2015 to 9 January 2016\n\nWirral’
s very own Pottery Throw Down.\n\nThe fruits of Wirral's only weekly run p
ottery courses have produced wonderful results and are on show at the Rath
bone Studio\, Birkenhead. Students who have been attending the Rathbone St
udio pottery session are holding an exhibition showing the talent and crea
tivity that is thriving in the Wirral. On display is pottery of all types
from thrown pieces to coil and slab work\, including very practical pieces
such as mugs to very experimental sculptural creations.\n\nThe pottery wo
rkshops have been running since the Studio opened in May 2012 on the site
of the historic Della Robbia pottery. The course has been so successful th
at there are now over thirty students and there is a waiting list to join\
, so high is the level of interest in the Wirral for pottery.\n\n“Some o
f the people who come to the workshops have been potting for a few years a
nd exhibit their work independently\; also in the same workshop are comple
te beginners. The diversity of the work produced is fantastic. It really s
hows how versatile clay is” says Janet Holmes\, the owner of the Rathbon
