SUMMARY:OUTPUT Gallery: OUTPUT Gallery: Exhibition opening: Kate Cooper
DESCRIPTION:OUTPUT gallery invites Knowsley-born Kate Cooper for her firs
t solo show in the city. Cooper lives and works between London and Amsterd
am. She recently completed her residency at the Rijksakademie\, and is a D
irector and co-founder of the London-based artist-led organisation Auto It
alia. Kate Cooper’s work centres on the body as a contested space for co
mmunication and representation. In her artistic practice\, she uses CGI to
manipulate avatar bodies in surreal situations\, in which characters func
tion both as objects and as infrastructure. Presented as harbingers of aff
ect\; these fictional liminal bodies are presented as forms of weaponry wi
th which to unpick and reject contemporary modes of exploitative labour.\n
