SUMMARY:: Otterspool Park: Slow Soundwalk - Take me to the river
DESCRIPTION:Otterspool Park – The river Mersey\n\nMeet @ Junction of Jeri
 cho lane &amp\; Aigburth Drive Liverpool L17 5AR\nNovember 16th 12.00 noon
£2.00 on the day\n\nA soundwalk is a practice: it is walking without tal
king\, focussing on the sound around\, focussing on being there rather tha
n talking about it. A slow soundwalk takes you to undiscovered places: mea
 ns of transport\, your senses.\n\nSessions usually consist of 3 x 20 minut
es sessions with light intermission to share thoughts and reflections and
then move on. The session is led by Phil Morton: acoustic ecologist\, who
has delivered soundwalks and listening projects in many and varied setting
s.\n\nWhen was the last time you went somewhere just to hear the sounds th
ere?\nWhether experienced as private meditation or as collective silence S
OUNDWALKS refresh your ears and reset your sensual awareness to where you
are\, live or work.\n\nA slow soundwalk will be of interest to\n• Musici
ans (as it involves listening to a sequence of sounds)\n• To recording a
rtists (as one needs to appreciate the relationship between background and
foreground sound\, for example)\n• For electronic musicians (as it rela
tes to the way timbres interact)\n• To planners and architects (as the s
ound is part of the atmosphere of a place and affects social responses).\n
 • Sound artist - (as an act of attentive listening as part of a preparat
ory methodology)\n• Everyone and anyone\, (as an act of `ear cleaning`\,
a space of time to slow down and focus on the reality of sound in the pre
sent\, to reset\, refresh and re-engage)\n\nPresented by Sonic Gaze Group\
