SUMMARY:Open Eye Gallery: Open Eye Gallery: The Liverpool Camarade - Part o
 f The European Poetry Festival
DESCRIPTION:THE LIVERPOOL CAMARADE – PART OF THE EUROPEAN POETRY FESTIVAL
2023\n\n\n\n\nRSVP VIA EVENTBRITE\n\nA remarkable poetry event in support
of Ukrainian culture\, celebrating liveness\, collaboration and cross-lin
guistic collective inventiveness. Eight pairs of poets will present their
readings:\n\nKārlis Vērdiņš and James Byrne\n\nHanna Komar and Michael
Sutton\n\nKaterina Koulouri and Patricia Farrell\n\nYasmin Hafedh and Sar
ah Dawson\n\nAilsa Holland and Stephen Sunderland\n\nRobert Sheppard and S
arah-Claire Conlon\n\nTom Jenks and SJ Fowler\n\nStanimir Dimitrov and Mic
hael Egan.\n\nThe Camarade format asks pairs of poets\, many of whom have
never met before\, to produce new collaborative works especially for the n
ight of the reading\, with no criteria other than a seven-minute time limi
t.\n\nThis non-determinate curatorial model explores the possibilities aro
und live poetry and performance. Moreover\, it creates friendships and com
munities. These events are rapid fire and energised but fundamentally seri
ous and complex in the work they often produce.\nEuropean Poetry Festival
is one of the grandest celebrations of European poetry ever to take plac
e in the UK. Eleven events over three weeks will see over one hundred poet
s from across the continent and the UK come together.\nThis event is a par
t of HOME programme which includes exhibitions\, publications and event
s in Open Eye Gallery and across Liverpool city region. HOME is commissi
oned by Culture Liverpool / Liverpool City Council\, with kind support fro
m EuroFestival and Arts Council England.\nImage: Evgeniy Pavlov\, from
