DESCRIPTION:INSPIRATION\, PROCESS AND OUTCOMES\nSaturday 25 February / 6pm-
 8pm / Free / Booking Required\n\nA poetry reading and workshop.\n\nPoets M
 aria Isakova Bennett and Michael Brown will discuss the development of new
  work inspired by our exhibition\, North: Identity\, Photography\, Fashion
 .\n\nThey will read their poetry created after viewing the exhibition\, di
 scuss their own processes of redrafting work\, and run a workshop in which
  participants will produce their own writing (poetry\, prose poetry\, or p
 rose) from guided prompts. The event will conclude with a short discussion
  of participants’ experiences of writing during the session\, followed b
 y a final reading by Maria and Michael.\n\nThe event is suitable for both 
 beginners and more experienced writers\, and for artists with an interest 
 in collaboration between photography and text.\n\nThe event is free\, howe

 ennett\n\nMaria lives and works in Liverpool. She has an MA in Creative Wr
 iting from Lancaster University\, and postgraduate qualifications in Fine 
 Art and Art History.\n\nMaria has been widely published\, wrote and perfor
 med The Ferry on the Mersey in partnership with the BBC\, as their Merseys
 ide poet for the 2016 National Poetry Day festival (http://www.bbc.co.uk/p
 rogrammes/p04b4cv5)\, and has been shortlisted and placed in several Inter
 national Competitions including Bridport\, Wigtown\, Cinnamon Prizes\, and
  Mslexia. She was awarded first prize in the Ver Open Poetry Award judged 
 by Clare Pollard.\n\nMaria collaborates with poet Michael Brown on project
 s in galleries on Merseyside\, and works alongside poet Pauline Rowe on cr

 ly including The Rialto\, Butchers Dog\, Lighthouse Journal\, Other Poetry
 \, Crannog\, The Moth\, South Bank Poetry\, Envoi\, The North\, Brittle St
 ar\, New Walk and The Interpreter’s House. He was shortlisted for the Ba
 re Fiction Collection prize Judged by Andrew McMillan in 2015. In 2014 he 
 won the Untold London Competition with his poem\, From Hungerford Bridge\,
  Looking East. He was placed third in the York Poetry Prize\, 2015\, with 
 the poem Water Lilies and he recently collaborated with the Liverpool poet
  Maria Isakova Bennett on projects in galleries on Merseyside. He has two 
 pamphlets: Undersong (Eyewear\, 2014)\, and Locations for a Soul (Templar\
 , 2016). Michael is currently working towards a first collection.
