SUMMARY:Open Eye Gallery: Open Eye Gallery: England on Sea @ Digital Window
  Gallery
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nEngland on Sea @ Digital Window Gallery\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeor
gie Gibbs is our Open Source #31 artist. Open Source is a rolling submi
ssion-based open call\, giving developing and early-career artists the opp
ortunity to showcase their work digitally on the gallery’s exterior scre
en.\n\nThe series explores the identity and resilience of England’s coas
tal communities\, capturing both their timeless appeal and the inevitabil
ity of change. ‘England On Sea’ has been an ongoing project from betwe
en 2017 to 2023\, shot using 35mm film on a Minolta XG-M\, passed down by
Georgie’s father.\n\n“These towns fascinate me because they have an e
nergy to them that inland England doesn’t quite replicate. Many still ha
ve a strong sense of community and have seen so much change over the cour
se of a generation\, with their ever-changing landscape and distinctive c
olour palettes.” An increasing portion of the authentic British seaside
is being removed\, replaced and modernised. The series looks at the nuan
ces and complexities of those residing there.\n\n\n
