 ngaging discussion on expanded photography and the (hauntological) potenti
 al of AI\, centering around the project #end_of_empire by artist Eva Sajov
 ic in collaboration with musician Nicola Privato\, commissioned for the Br
 itish Textile Biennial 2023.\n\n#end_of_empire was a large scale\, site-s
 pecific installation featuring knitted photographs embedded with touch sen
 sors and AI generated sound.\n\nThe evening will commence by exploring que
 stions posed by the artists in this work\, including the concept of knitti
 ng as ethical photography\, the role of the body in mediating with the mor
 e-than-human\, the potential and the risks of AI and the role of technolog
 y in facing the challenges of the Anthropocene. This will be followed by a
  response by Dr Lucy Soutter before it is opened to Q&amp\;A from the part
 icipants.\n\n#end_of_empire is a co-commission with In-Situ and the Britis
 h Textile Biennial with This Is Nelson Town Deal funding.\n\nDr Lucy Sout
 ter is a Reader in Photography at the University of Westminster. Her work
  focuses on questions of value and meaning in photography and contemporary
  art. She is the author of Why Art Photography? (Routledge\, 2nd ed. 
 2018)\, co-editor of Writer Conversations (1000 Words\, 2023) and writes
  for publications including Source\, 1\,000 Words and Photoworks. She is 
 currently working with Duncan Wooldridge to edit The Routledge Companion
