SUMMARY:Open Eye Gallery: Open Eye Gallery: Diesel & Dust (Digital Window G
 allery)
DESCRIPTION:DIESEL &amp\; DUST @ DIGITAL WINDOW GALLERY\n18 JANUARY - 31 MA
RCH 2024\n\n\n\n\nDiesel &amp\; Dust is a documentary project that explore
s the inland waterways of the UK. The project seeks to understand the appe
al and impact of the canal network on the people who live alongside or on
it. It can provide an escape from the rigid structures of modern society\,
offering a more transient way of life that allows people to slow down tim
e and become self-sufficient. The landscape\, the traditions\, the culture
\, the boats and the people who operated them. This all contributes to the
sense of place and living history that connects us all.\nJoe Dixey is a
freelance photographer who graduated in photography from the University of
Brighton in 2012. His photography practice is investigative and curious\,
and he is particularly interested in exploring our relationship with the
landscape and the spaces in which we live.&nbsp\;\n\nHe was selected as a
finalist for the Magnum Photo/Ideastap Photography competition in 2013 for
his project ‘Maximum Stay’\, a documentary project about motorway ser
vice stations in the UK\, and his project ‘LACE’\, about his home city
of Nottingham\, has been exhibited at the Truman Brewery\, London and at
 the Scalarama Festival.\n\n\n\nImage: Joe Dixey\n\n
