What skills would you need to make it ha ppen? And what makes your idea different? We’re looking for a raft of ne w ideas that local residents would like to try out. As part of Sefton’s year as Borough of Culture we’re running the Festival of Ideas – to he lp YOU get new ideas off the ground.\n\nNobody expected this from 2020. It ’s been a year that’s thrown all of our assumptions up into the air\; made us rethink what we do and why we do it\, and shown the value of commu nity\, collective endeavour and local resilience. We’ve had a chance to think about what works for us and the plac-es we live in. How can we help #BuildBackBetter and create real and lasting change in Bootle?\n\nBootle h as a great tradition of making and mending\, from the roads snaking around the docks to modern\, high tech innovation\; from box room inventors to b ack shed artists\; from the Strand to the indoor market and independent sh ops. We’ve seen all sorts made here\, from metal ropes to jam and marmal ade. Hartley’s jam factory was founded in Bootle and now – believe it or not – robots are made right here in Sefton. So what’s next? We want to hear your ideas.Come along to one of our events and share your idea to bid for support from a funding pot of £6\,000\, which will help take you r idea to the next stage of development.\n\nJoin us on Thursday September 17 from 6-7.30pm to talk about making and selling.\n\nThe session will be lead by Katherine Caldwell\, artist and Managing Director of The Nest Gif tshop\, Liverpool\n\nBootle Festival of Ideas is part of the Borough of C ulture (BoC) programme.\n\nThe title is awarded by the Liverpool City Regi on’s Combined Authority to one of its six local authorities on a rotatin g\, annual basis\, and we’ve taken over from Wirral\, 2019’s Borough o f Culture.\n\nThe focus of Sefton’s programme is on stories – about us \, by us\, and for us… all of us – revolving around the theme of ‘My ths and Realities’.
