Over the course of 3 weeks\, you will de velop your awareness of painting using acrylic as a unique means of visual communication.\n\nEach session will give you the opportunity to use your imagination and develop those inventive processes alongside traditional an d contemporary techniques. You will make art as an artist does and develop your project from its conceptual beginning to its physical end. The cours e will help you develop a deeper understanding of art and how as practitio ners we think and realise work.\n\nDay 1: Introduction\n\n Basics of acry lic paint\, properties\, and solvents\n Properties of colour: value\, sat uration\, and hue\n Colour theory: primary\, secondary\, and the rest\; c olour mixing\n Making value and saturation charts\n Mixing secondary col ours as well as some random target colours\n\nDay 2: Drawing and painting from a picture\n\n Introduction to gridding method to draw and paint from a printed and digital pictures\n Creating painting from one printed and one digital photo using a grid.\n\nDay 3: Drawing and painting from life\n \n With the techniques learnt over the previous 2 days\, you will apply y our learning to execute a drawing and painting from life.\n\nTutor: Laleh Kamalian\n\nLaleh Kamalian is a self-taught artist who found art at a late stage of her life after a long career in medicine and science. Her favour ite subject is human portrait\, where she aims to show the characteristics and emotions of the portrayed to the best of her ability. However\, she e njoys describing the nature beauties in the form of flowers\, scenery\, or wildlife with her art too.\n\nDates\n\n7th\, 14th &\; 21st December\n\ nVenue\n\nMuseum of Liverpool\n\nPier Head\n\nLiverpool\n\nL3 1DG\n\nCost\ n\n£135\n\nIt is possible to split this cost into two payments\, please c all 0345 017 6660 for more details.\n\nMaterials you will need to bring:\ n\nAcrylic paint: A set\, or individual tubes\, that contain at least tita nium white\, red\, yellow\, blue\, and black.\n\nBrushes: Synthetic brushe s suitable for acrylic paint\, at least in three sizes\, small\, medium\, and large (not wider than 2 cm). If you are getting a set\, they normally come in different shapes. If you are buying them individually\, go for fil bert.\n\nPaper: A pad of paper suitable for acrylic paint\, size A3.\n\nPa lette knife: Go for a longer shape such as diamond or rectangular shape.\n \nPainting palette: I recommend a pad of disposable pallet papers\, althou gh you can get a rigid one (wooden or plastic) or use disposable paper pla tes.\n\nA pencil\n\nAn eraser\n\nA pencil sharpener\n\nPlease bring with y ou a cup\, or jar for water\n\n------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nN otes\n\nThere are a maximum of 16 places available on the course\, so earl y booking is essential.
