DESCRIPTION:A full day workshop exploring the use of the arts as a means to
  engage young people in political concepts and ideas.\n\nBOOK VIA EVENTBRI
 TE\n\nThis full day workshop combines presentations from tutors\, peer to 
 peer learning and practical exercises which will introduce participants to
 :\n\n• Diverse and international approaches to using the arts as a means
  to engaging young people in political concepts and ideas.\n\n• Explore 
 the ethical challenges of this type of work.\n\n• Creative and practical
  exercises that can be used to introduce young people to political ideas a
 nd concepts.\n\n• The benefits of using youth arts practice to explore p
 olitical concepts and ideas.\n\n• Appropriate campaigning networks and b
 odies.\n\nWho is it aimed at?\n\nThis workshop is aimed particularly at yo
 uth workers\, youth theatre leaders\, activists and campaigners.\n\nCourse
  Leaders\n\nBen Mellor is Collective Encounters’ Youth Theatre and has b
 een delivering the company’s work with Looked After Children and Young P
 eople for the last three years. Prior to joining Collective Encounters Ben
  worked for over ten years as a freelance writer\, performer and educator.
  As a facilitator and director he has worked with a wide range of young pe
 ople and adults from a variety of backgrounds in schools\, colleges\, univ
 ersities\, theatres\, youth centres and prisons. He has delivered workshop
 s and projects for venues and organisations such as Apples &amp\; Snakes\,
  Contact\, The Lowry\, The Royal Exchange\, Manchester Literature Festival
  and Shakespeare Schools Festival.\n\nMatthew Elliott leads on Collective 
 Encounters’ Radical Makers Training Programme. Prior to completing his P
 hD in Embodying Critical Engagement: Experiments with politics\, theatre a
 nd young people in the UK and Chile Matthew studied Community Theatre at L
 IPA\, and completed an MA in Theatre and Global Development at Leeds Unive
 rsity. As well as working for Collective Encounters\, Matthew is also a le
 cturer in Community Theatre at LIPA and works collaboratively with Colecti
 vo Sustento in Chile and Lagnet in Kenya.
