SUMMARY:Make North Docks: MDI: LEAP at Make Liverpool: Coal
DESCRIPTION:★★★★\n“An absorbing\, immediate slice of history rend
ered with the kind of emotional truth that deepens its impact as popular e
ntertainment.”\nThe Times\n\nMarking the 30th anniversary of the end of
the 1984/85 British Miners’ strike\, award winning choreographer Gary Cl
arke proudly presents COAL\, a riveting dance theatre show which takes a n
ostalgic look at the hard-hitting realities of life at the coal face.\n\nB
ased on years of personal research by Gary Clarke\, COAL is a direct respo
nse to his upbringing in the working class mining village of Grimethorpe\,
South Yorkshire. It’s about trying to capture a time in British history
that is too easily forgotten\, and the unbreakable spirit of a working cl
ass community fighting for its future. Featuring a cast of 7 professional
dancers\, pushed to emotional and physical extremes\, a live brass band an
d a group of women picked from the local community\, COAL is a unique and
powerful performance to open Leap 2017 \nThere will be a post show talk o
n Wed 1 Mar immediately following the show\nBOOK HERE
