Baltic: Beginner Sewing - Shorts or Pants DESCRIPTION:BOOK HERE\n\nThis beginners course will take you step by step t hrough the very basics of sewing. You will be taught over the space of 6ho urs how to make your own casual men's shorts or women's flared pants along with tricks and professional techniques to ensure the perfect finish to y our garment. The course is spread over three weeks and broken down week by week into these categories -\n\nClass One - Textiles and Machine basics - 2 hours\n\nThere are literally thousands of fabrics available in the shop s. Most peoples choice according to their pattern or the colour of the fab ric\, but how can you be sure that your fabric choice will be the right on e to make the perfect garment. Class one will help you confidently choose fabric to make your garment. Topics covered include\n\n- Natural &\; sy nthetic fibres and their properties\n\n- The difference between woven and knitted fabrics\n\n- Light weight and heavy weight fabrics\n\n- Stretch fa bric\n\nA simple black material will be provided for you but there will be an opportunity during this class to purchase a different colour to the on e provided if you would prefer. This class will also explain how to set up your machine\, correct thread &\; needles\, threading the machine up a nd practise. There will be ample time to practise sewing pieces together i n preparation for the second class.\n\nClass Two - Cutting and Assembly - 2 hours\n\nThe second class will concentrate on using the pre prepared pat tern to cut out the material. You will provided with a pattern of your cho ice in the correct size and will have an opportunity to make a copy of the pattern to take home so you can make as many shorts and trousers as you l ike. After all the material is cut out you can begin sewing certain sectio ns of the shorts or trousers together ready to finish off in the third and final class.\n\nClass Three - Overlocking and Finishing - 2 hours\n\nThe remaining panels can be finished off at the beginning of the third class a nd the raw edges of the fabric will need to be finished off to create a ne at edge using an over locker. The Hem and elastic waistband will be added at this point to complete the shorts or pants.\n\nThis beginner course is a brilliant start for anyone completely new to sewing. If you have a machi ne you would like to use please bring it with you to all three classes. Th ere are sewing machines available to use at no extra cost if needed.\n\nTh e number of people on each course is limited to ensure a friendly and thor ough teaching experience.
