 \n\n\nVICTORIA ART GALLERY AND MUSEUM\, UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL\n\nIn the 
 innovative installation of Shanghai Sacred at Victoria Gallery &amp\; Mus
 eum\, photographer and anthropologist Liz Hingley uncovers the spiritual l
 andscape of China’s largest city\, which sits at the forefront of the co
 untry’s unprecedented religious revival.\n\nEvocative photographs reveal
  the spaces and rituals embedded in the fabric of today’s cosmopolitan m
 egalopolis of 24 million people. Shanghai is home to a multitude of religi
 ous groups from Buddhism and Islam\, to Christianity and Baha’ism\, to H
 induism and Daoism\, and many more\, which are growing and changing with t
 he tide of globalisation and the limitless inventiveness of it’s populat
 ion.\n\nShanghai Sacred (Washington University Press\, 2018) was developed
  over four years by Liz Hingley\, Professor Benoît Vermander of the Xu-Ri
 cci Dialogue Center at Fudan University and Zhang Liang 张靓\, of Shangh
 ai Academy of Social Sciences. The installation of the work on a unique ba
 mboo structure\, has been designed by the Shanghai artist Chen Hangfeng an
 d Liz Hingley to mirror the cities’ architectural craft and daring.\n\nS
 hanghai Sacred was carried out in collaboration with Professor Benoit Verm
 ander of the Xu-Ricci Dialogue Institute at Fudan University and Liang Zha
