We Embroider

Embroidery workshop inspired by the nature reserve Hilbre Island base in the Dee Estuary. Meeting by the pier on South Parade we will walk over the Hilbre island, please wear comfortable walking shoes. Morning session concentrated on generating ideas from natural form, drawing techniques and methods of creating designs for a workable embroidery.

Follow by a lunchtime slot, please bring a packed lunch, we will provide light entertainment. We have a room we have access to but it will be best to bring waterproofs. There is an organic matter toilet available, however due to the natural environment of the nature reserve, high-end bathroom facilities are not available. Afternoon session to be dedicated to the process of hand embroidery, the use of traditional techniques combined with contemporary textiles practise producing a finished piece ready for framing.

Tutor: Alison Little is an experience visual artist based in the North West. Working on numerous commissions from miniature scale embroideries to large scale public art, such as Go Superlambanana for the Capital of Culture year in Liverpool. Workshop are key to her creative practice, bring her skills in the creative sector directly to the participants.
