 rawing’.\n\nThis July a new Independent Art School will launch in Liverp
 ool with a drawing festival for all\, from the scribblers to the seasoned 
 pros.  Liverpool Independent Art School is an independently run school\, 
 pioneered by artists and creative professionals who teach what they believ
 e is important.  The workshops and courses will happen at various excitin
 g and independent locations across the city until the whisperings of a per
 manent venue become a reality.  The LIAS tutors all have their own specia
 lisms and you can find the details of the School’s founding team\, as we
 ll as scheduled courses and workshops\, on the newly launched website www
 .liverpoolindependentartschool.com\n\nLIAS begins its creative adventure w
 ith a Festival of Drawing offering events throughout July\, providing a ta
 ster for future courses and workshops\, and offering an insight into the A
 rt School’s ambitions and values.  The Festival aims to engage the gene
 ral public and practicing artists alike\, working in partnership with a nu

 val Workshops\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n‘Sketching the City’ an urban sketching w
 orkshop\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA day course introducing participants to sket
 ching in an urban environment.  There will be a studio session followed b
 y some drawing exercises in the first half of the day. The second half wil
 l consist of a ‘Sketchwalk’ in the immediate environs of the VGM and c
 oncluding with a plenary back at the studio.  This is a full day workshop
  so please bring your own lunch.  In wet weather an alternative sketchwal

 egularly exhibits in Liverpool and Edinburgh and is the founder of Liverpo
 ol Urban Sketchers.  Primarily a figurative sculptor in ceramic\, he also

  and Museum.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is suitable for all
  abilities\, whether you are a beginner who wants to get creative and give
  drawing a go or an artist who wants to get back to basics\, you will be l
 ed through both fun and focused exercises to help you think differently ab

 \n\nLIAS tutor\, Paul Gatenby has teamed up with Secret Circus founder and
  performer\, Eve Howlett to put together a challenging and exciting drawin

 vironment and using unconventional tools you will discover a playful appro
 ach to the creative process\, reflect on the act of drawing and mark makin
 g.\n\nIn the afternoon simple techniques of book making will be presented 
 using the artwork produced in the morning.  You will go home with excitin
 g pieces of work.No previous skills are required\, just be open minded and
  ready to experiment.  Paint and ink will be used\, and it is recommended

 participants to sketching the landscape in the stunning coastal environmen
 t of Hilbre.(West Kirkby)  We will walk out to the island at low tide and
  spend the day together relaxing and drawing and engaging with the landsca
 pe when the tide is high. This will be a combination of led drawing exerci
 se and the opportunity to explore your own drawing/ materials with tutor d
 iscussion. The balance is up to you. We will have a short plenary at the e
 nd before walking back to the station when the tide goes back out.\n\nThis
  is a full day workshop so please bring your own lunch for a picnic on our
  desert island. There are no hi-tech facilities on the island so please d
 ress sensibly for the weather and what we lack in luxury we will more than

 for 17 years in Liverpool and his own work as an artist is issue-led and c
 overs a range of approaches from sculpture to drawing to performance. He i

  artist\, even those who don’t know it yet. His stance is that the exper
 ience of making art is more important than the resultant crafts object and
