Castaway Drawing Day on Hilbre Island
A day course introducing participants to sketching the landscape in the stunning coastal environment of Hilbre.(West Kirkby)Â We will walk out to the island at low tide and spend the day together relaxing and drawing and engaging with the landscape when the tide is high. This will be a combination of led drawing exercise and the opportunity to explore your own drawing/ materials with tutor discussion. The balance is up to you. We will have a short plenary at the end before walking back to the station when the tide goes back out.
This is a full day workshop so please bring your own lunch for a picnic on our desert island. There are no hi-tech facilities on the island so please dress sensibly for the weather and what we lack in luxury we will more than makeup for in scenic splendor. Basic drawing materials will be supplied but please bring a sketchbook or drawing paper and a small light board to lean on and anything else you like to use. Be aware there may be music/ laughter/ possible sunburn!
Tutor: Toc has tutored art and design for 17 years in Liverpool and his own work as an artist is issue-led and covers a range of approaches from sculpture to drawing to performance. He is concerned with art as a visual language and believes that everyone is an artist, even those who don’t know it yet. His stance is that the experience of making art is more important than the resultant crafts object and that confidence comes from practice. He invites artists of all levels of ability to work together supportively.
