SUMMARY:Bluecoat: Liverpool Biennial 2018: Beautiful World Reading and Disc
 ussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful World Reading and Discussion Group\n\nBOOK NOW\n\nHow
do we imagine or understand a ‘beautiful world’?\n\nJon Davies invite
s an open discussion on how we conceive of the future\, and what dangers a
nd opportunities we face in the middle of a crisis. This event encourages
imagining what societies can do if we were to adopt 'new' or dispose of 'n
ormal' things\, and how we can navigate ourselves towards new realities.\n
\nIn this series of participatory events\, artist Jon Davies extends an in
vitation to consider the times we are living in and encourages us to share
ideas\, texts and conversations. Davies begins from the position that in
order to change the world for the better\, we need to broaden our understa
nding of work and production\, the environment\, gender and sexuality\, an
d race and nations. He also considers whether the status quo is stopping u
s from working towards a better world. Davies and invited guests including
artist Diann Bauer\, Priya Sharma\, Salma Noor will debate the contempora
ry moment through five provocations: Which Utopia? followed by Dehumani
 se\, Defamiliarise\, Decolonise and Deindustrialise.
