 ory writing workshop with acclaimed author and poet Ibtisam Barakat.\n\nH
 istory has excluded many voices and many groups for a long time. Now more 
 people have an opportunity to participate in narrating and helping humanit
 y have a more inclusive history. There are many barriers\, you may say. An
 d the answer is: Yes\; but barriers are there to be transcended. And what 
 joy and freedom it is to begin. . . So\, if you love to write\, come explo
 re who you are on paper\, and tell the world some of the stories the world
  needs to hear and to know about your being a unique person whose voice an
 d ways of seeing can never be duplicated. This workshop will focus on “v
 oice” to help you overcome emotional blocks\, and will offer you startin
 g tools that will help you embark on the writing journey joyfully and succ
 essfully. There will be time to write and time to converse and ask questio
 ns. Anyone who wishes to share some of what they wrote will be encouraged 
 to do so. Sharing is not required and strictly voluntary. If you are an es
 tablished writer or anywhere along the writing path\, you are welcome to j
 oin Write Your Life.\n\nPalestinian-American poet and author of the critic
 ally acclaimed memoirs: Tasting the Sky\, a Palestinian Childhood\, and Ba
 lcony on the Moon\, Coming of Age in Palestine\, and the founder and leade

 nAbout the author\n\nIbtisam Barakat is an award-winning\, Palestinian-Am
 erican author\, poet\, translator\, artist and educator\, based in the US.
  She publishes in both English and Arabic—her memoirs\, Tasting the Sky
 : A Palestinian Childhood (2007)\, and Balcony on the Moon: Coming of Ag
 e in Palestine (2016)\, received considerable critical acclaim. Her poems
 \, essays and short stories have appeared in magazines including The Natio
 n\, Wasafiri and the Washington Post. She won a 2020 Sheikh Zayed Book Awa
 rd for illustrated children’s book Al-Fatah Al-Laylakeyyah (The Lilac 
 Girl)\, her sixth book for younger readers. You can watch her TEDx talk ab
