SUMMARY:Hilbre Island: Ling Warlow & Amanda Oliphant: Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:An Independents Biennial Exhibition\n\nExhibition\nLing Warlow
 &amp\; Amanda Oliphant\n\nLing Warlow\n\nTime to be spent observing\, sket
ching\, photograph the unique flora of Hilbre\, creating written and visua
l records of both anatomy and colour – information hard to glean from fl
at representations – allowing further work on botanically accurate sculp
 ture recreations.\n\nwww.paperbydragonfly.com\nInstagram: @paperbydragonf
ly\n\nAmanda Oliphant\n\nMy work is a response to distinctive patterns exp
osed through time that I encounter whilst walking through the landscape. T
hey reflect sensations of footsteps upon timeless trodden paths\, hidden l
ayers and roots captured through a degree of abstraction of a surface.
Through my paintings I reveal the experience of a landscape that intrigues
and challenges me. Using textured mark making and sympathetic tonal value
s\, different elements become an exploration of the natural world. Back in
the studio\, ideas are transformed into visual stories through recorded w
 ords\, paint and unique mark-making techniques.\n\nwww.amandaoliphant.co.u

n&nbsp\;\nThis project aims to secure a sustainable future for a sensitive
heritage and ecological asset. The restoration of the site’s buildings\
, four of which are listed as Grade II\, will establish a centre dedicated
to the study of Art\, Science\, and Sustainability. This initiative will
enhance ongoing efforts to monitor migratory birds and foster a deeper con
nection with the local community through educational programming.\nIn part
nership with Independents Biennial Liverpool\, we are excited to launch ou
r inaugural project\, “Drawing Out Hilbre Archipelago.” This ambitious
festival will feature artist residencies\, workshops\, exhibitions\, and
 performances that delve into key themes\, including:\n\n\n \nEcological I
nterconnections: Examining the relationships between different species and
their habitats.\n\n \nCultural Heritage and Community Narratives: Celebr
ating the history and stories that define Hilbre and its surrounding commu
 nities.\n\n \nSustainability and Self-Sufficiency: Emphasizing practices
that promote ecological balance and resourcefulness.\n\n \nTime and Tides
: Investigating the impact of changing tides on the island and its ecosyst
ems.\n\n \nEngagement with Nature: Fostering outdoor participation and ar
tistic interaction with the island’s natural environment.\n\n\nTogether\
, these efforts aim to create a vibrant hub for learning and connection wi
 thin the unique context of Hilbre.\n&nbsp\;
