DESCRIPTION:The Play Scratch Night showcases 4 new pieces of work created b
 y the community especially for LightNight. Yolanda Mercy invited anyone\
 , new to writing or experienced\, to her Writing Lab in the lead up to Lig
 htNight. Participants were invited to take inspiration from their lived ex
 periences and the theme of Play to write a compelling and captivating 5-mi
 nute monologue.\n\nYolanda Mercy is an experienced writer and workshop le
 ader\, having run workshops for over 10 years. She has worked with a varie
 ty of people within the community and professional sector\, nationally and
  internationally. Yolanda is passionate about helping a broad range of peo
 ple unlock their writing potential.\n\nFour monologues were shortlisted fr
 om 50 entries and will be performed by either the writer or a professional
  actor on LightNight as part of The Play Scratch Night via Zoom:\n\nVictor
 ia Dyson\nMonologue Title: Heavy Is The Head\nVictoria is a Performer and 
 Co-Artistic Director of Filskit Theatre\, who specialise in making work fo
 r young audiences. She loves writing\, dressing up\, creating characters a
 nd drinking tea!\n\nEmma Rydal\nMonologue Title: Wasted\nEmma is an actres
 s and writer based in Cumbria where she lives with her husband and two dau
 ghters. She writes and produces her own plays with her company ‘La’al 
 Marra Productions’.\n\nIrene Stuart\nMonologue Title: It Happened One Ni
 ght\, Honestly\nIrene is a Liverpool playwright and poet. She tends to wri
 te dramatic pieces and is the recipient of a number of awards for this gen
 re. Her piece is a little bit spooky with a touch of drama and a smatterin
 g of comedy.\n\nMark Davoren\nMonologue Title: Give It Up and Start Again\
 nMark is a published poet and writer of short stories and a series of Youn
 g Adult fiction. He has written several plays with one scheduled to premie
 re at Liverpool’s Royal Court this Autumn.\n\nThe Play Scratch Night wil
