SUMMARY:John Lennon Art and Design Building: LightNight: LJMU John Lennon B
uilding: A Unique and Spectacular Event
DESCRIPTION:A UNIQUE AND SPECTACULAR MOMENT\n19:00 – 22:00\nLJMU John Len
non Building\n\nX Gallery\n\nBeginning as a video game and ending as an in
teraction between two strangers\, this piece explores the concept of ‘ri
tual’ both in terms of routine actions which are habitual and repetitive
and simultaneously with regard to ceremonial actions and conscious interv
entions designed to celebrate and magnify critical life changes.\n\nDevelo
ped as a collaboration between immersive artists Simon Wilkinson [CiRCA69]
and Myra Appannah\, the show references psychological research into human
happiness and parallel concepts associated with games design to create a
ritualistic interaction between two people\; tasking them to devise and do
cument their own unique and spectacular moment. Expect surprises\, expect
to be challenged and expect to leave with a big smile on your face.\n\nA U
nique and Spectacular Moment has been created with the support of public f
unding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. It is also su
pported by the Liverpool School of Art and Design’s MA in Immersive Arts
