SUMMARY:The Oratory: LightNight 2019 - The Oratory: Sea Fever - Revolutiona
 ry Nature
DESCRIPTION:SEA FEVER – REVOLUTIONARY NATURE\n17:00 – 21:00\nThe Liverp
ool Oratory\n\nAn exhibition of watercolour paintings created with childre
n from LIPA Primary School\, projected inside The Liverpool Oratory.\n\nIn
spired by observations of the sea\, the children have painted the Mersey a
s viewed from their art room window. Continuing the Project Revolutionary
Nature (featured in LightNight 2018) this is a partnership between Jayne S
eddon\, artist in residence at LIPA Primary\, ART Labs at LJMU\, The Frien
ds of St James’ Garden and National Museums Liverpool.\n\nThe children h
ave explored cultural representations of the sea across time\, from Turner
to contemporary visual artists who are inspired by oceanography\, working
in the field of conservation\, and using art as a catalyst for social cha
nge. Leading surgeons recently stated that medical students are losing the
dexterity in their hands\, and therefore the ability to operate\, due to
spending hours in virtual worlds and swiping screens.\n\nCelebrate the rit
ual of fine art practice and how a commitment to creative processes suppor
ts the development of fine motor skills. Share the children’s enjoyment
of painting\, and their wonder of the natural world and the cyclical natur
e of living systems. International soprano Rachel Harland will sing Sea Fe
ver\, and the school choir will perform sounds inspired by the sea from 18
 :00.\n\nMore: http://lightnightliverpool.co.uk/whats-on/sea-fever-revoluti
