SUMMARY:Surtsey Projects: LightNight 2017: Buildings Roman
DESCRIPTION:BUILDINGS ROMAN\n18:00\, 20:15 – 19:45\, 22:00 Gostins Buildi
 ng\nCommissions\, Performance\n\n32 - 36 Hanover Street\nL1 4LN\n\nMore he
re\n\nThe result of a collaboration between set designer Alexandra Morton
and performance artist Raphaella Davies\, this humorous\, time-based perfo
rmance draws on Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days\, exploring our familiar pre
occupation with rites of passage through the performers’ humorous self-r
eflection.\n\nPushed to its limits\, the Surtsey Projects space is transfo
rmed into an immersive stage with a multitude of materials\, striking expe
rimental lighting and a moveable set. As Buildings Roman examines and deco
nstructs the devices of theatre and performance\, the audience are invited
to enter the space to soak up the atmosphere and influence the performers
’ path.\n\nSurtsey Projects is an independent project space\, set up by
artists Lily Mellor\, Devon Forrester-Jones and Laura Rushton to offer opp
ortunities for local emerging creatives and to create links between artist
 ic communities across the city.\n\nAct 1 18:00 – 19:45\n\nAct 2 20:15
 – 22:00
