DESCRIPTION:This Summer\, artist Harry Garner is returning to Kirkby Galler
 y to run a series of themed oil painting workshops.\n\nThe classes compris
 e of self contained sessions with all materials provided\, culminating in 
 a not to be missed two week portrait building series. You will be guided t
 hrough the painting process from start to finish with Harry's expert guida
 nce. The sessions are suitable for all levels of experience and you may bo
 ok on to as many or as few as you wish. However\, it is recommended that t
 he last two workshops are attended as a pair if possible.\n\nA Simple Stil
 l Life\nFriday 18 July\, 10.30am to 12.30pm\n\nAn accessible still life pa
 inting class. This can be both an introduction to the medium of oil paint 
 for those that are unfamiliar\, or a great opportunity for those more expe
 rienced to revise their alla prima (in a single attempt) painting skills.\
 n\nUnorthodox Brushstrokes\nFriday 25 July\, 10.30am to 12.30pm\n\nThis cl
 ass will explore techniques\, and various ‘alternative tools and materia
 ls’ that can create interesting\, lively and energetic brushwork to use 
 in your paintings. A fun and inventive session.\n\nOutdoor Painting (Plein
  Air)\nFriday 1 August\, 10.30am to 12.30pm\n\nThis class will be an intro
 duction to painting ‘plein air’ or outdoors. It will cover how to find
  a good view\, build a pleasing landscape composition and enjoy painting i
 n the hopefully sunny weather.\n\nFoundations of a Portrait: Part 1\nFrida
 y 8 August\, 10.30am to 12.30pm\n\nThis will be the first class to focus o
 n portrait painting. In this session the early parts of a portrait will be
  covered\, how to mix accurate skin tones\, block-in the facial features\,
  and begin to build a great sketch of the face.\n\nBuilding the Portrait: 
 Part 2\nFriday 15 August\, 10.30am to 12.30pm\n\nThis is the continuation 
 of the previous class\, it will build upon the portraits started last time
 . This class will cover how to build up shadows and highlights\, where to 
 include details\, and how to use glazing creatively\, all to make an inter
 esting portrait with a good likeness.\n\n£20 per workshop\nPlaces are lim
