SUMMARY:Kirkby Gallery: Kirkby Gallery: Painting with a Limited Palette (Ac
 rylics)
DESCRIPTION:Painting with a Limited Palette (Acrylics)\nThursday 22 Februar
 y\, 10.30am to 12.30pm \n£15 per person. Places are limited\n\nThe presen
t-day art shop has a huge range of colours available and it is very tempti
ng to buy all of them. Yet some artists have gone the opposite way and pai
nted using a minimal range of colours – usually called a limited or rest
ricted palette.\n\nThere are some advantages to using a limited palette\n\
n1. You get to ‘know’ your colours very quickly and will find you can
mix a surprisingly wide range of hues and be able to repeat them\n2. All y
our colours will have been mixed from the same basic range and will sit to
gether nicely on the canvas. This gives the painting a unified look\n\nFor
this workshop you will need: acrylic paints:\n• Titanium white\n• Yel
 low Ochre\n• Cadmium Red medium\n• Raw Umber\n• Ultramarine Blue\n\n
Small and medium size brushes\, water container\, palette knife and a flat
surface for mixing paints.\n\nYou might wish to use a ‘stay-wet’ pale
tte. These can be purchased but can be easily made on the day with a plast
ic tray (empty Ferrero Rocher boxes are ideal) a J-Cloth and a piece of st
rong paper - Paul will show you how on the day.\n\nPaul will look at some
examples of paintings completed with a limited palette\, especially the wo
rk of Anders Zorn\, and demonstrate the limited palette in use.\n\nBook yo
