Figure Drawing Workshops
This Spring, artist Harry Garner is returning to Kirkby Gallery to run a series of clothed figure drawing workshops. The five sessions are individually themed and self-contained. You can participate in all of them or just attend one or two. Catering for all levels of ability, from complete beginner to experienced artist, you will guided through a range of drawing methods and techniques whilst being encouraged to develop your own style. Our clothed model sitters will enable you to practice drawing from life. Drawing materials and paper will be available, or you are welcome to use your own preferred sketching equipment. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for your refreshment.
Traditional Life Drawing
Friday 7 March, 10.30am to 12.30pm
A traditional taught life drawing class that will incorporate a range of poses. We will introduce and explore ways to simplify the figure to its most extreme shapes, and measure the figure to confirm accuracy in our drawing.
Light and Shadow
Friday 14 March, 10.30am to 12.30pm
The focus of this life drawing class will be on how to capture light and dark in your drawings. It will be a fun and useful class with some great alternative and experimental techniques to try.
Doing Lines
Friday 21 March, 10.30am to 12.30pm
This class will explore a range of techniques to get confident with your drawing. Learn the importance of linework in a drawing and the impact it can have on the final results.
Drawing in Technicolour
Friday 28 March, 10.30am to 12.30pm
In this week’s class we will be putting away our HB pencils, charcoal and graphite. Instead, we will produce a range of saturated, vibrant and exquisite drawings using a colourful range of materials.
Long Pose
Friday 4 April, 10.30am to 12.30pm
A traditional life class with the model holding a single pose. Join this class to create a single, fully realised and resolved drawing; or create an interesting range of work. Model will be in costume. One not to miss.
