
Join local professional photographer Steve Samosa on a series of free creative workshops designed to provide you with a range of techniques and tricks to elevate your photography. You will learn the art of striking composition, the use of perspective and mixed lighting; experiment with exposures and be introduced to aerial photography using drone cameras. Through studio practice and location trips you will develop an understanding of compositional technique and the use of ISO, aperture size and shutter speeds to create visually interesting imagery.
Light Painting Thursday 8 May, 1-3pm
Switch off the lights and add your own light sources. Talk about the theory behind light painting and learn how to set up your camera for long exposures. Experiment with weird and wonderful devices and tools provided on the day to create your own amazing light paintings.
Black and White Thursday 15 May, 1-3pm
Master monochrome and learn the tips and tricks to capture incredible black and white images. Learn about some of the world’s most iconic images, created using black and white photography.
Drone Photography Thursday 22 May, 1-3pm
Find out about using this device to capture wonderful aerial images and explore photography from new perspectives. Learn everything from take off to remote image capture.
Street Photography Thursday 29 May 1-3pm
Covering one of the fastest growing forms of modern photography, this session is all about capturing spontaneous moments to tell a story. With a mixture of practical, theory and critique, you will learn how to see the extraordinary in the every day.
Portraits Thursday 5 June 1-3pm
Learn how to master the available light all around us to create stunning and unique portraits. Everywhere you look there are beautiful light sources, from a harsh midsummer sun to the glow of a high street store front. Spend the afternoon discovering light locations for your portrait photography.
Food and Products Thursday 12 June 1-3pm
Explore the art of food and product photography, working to identify and overcome the challenges involved in getting things just right. Work together as designers, stylists, lighting technicians and photographers in this fun session.
Creative Smoke Thursday 19 June 1-3pm
Learn how to master the creative art of smoke in your photography. Limited only by your imagination, you can mix colours, add movement and experiment with shutter speeds and camera settings to completely change the look, theme and composition of your photograph.
Architecture Thursday 26 June 1-3pm
Learn how to photograph the built environment using scene-setting shots, close-ups and abstract details to tell the whole story of a structure; revealing its form, shape and materials. Explore urban spaces old and new and capture the aesthetic qualities of buildings inside and out.

The sessions are suitable for every level of experience, but please note, as well as bringing your own photographic equipment, you must be prepared to go out on location.
