 014-2023' by John Petch.\n\nJohn Petch\, born in Liverpool now living in C
 heshire\, trained to teach art in Liverpool\, working in a number of local
  schools. He says:\n\n“My work investigates the relationship between lin
 e and space. Challenging how the brain perceives and makes sense of the di
 fference between what is understood and unfamiliar. I began painting in th
 e mid 1960s moving from Op Art to Geometrical Abstraction being inspired b
 y geometric imagery and pattern.\n\nMy paintings invite the viewer to be d
 rawn into a conversation from a simple statement of pattern to the relatio
 nship between art and mathematical special awareness.”\n\nMy work is Geo
 metric to hard edge abstract often with recognisable context. I have a fas
 cination with perspective\, line\, space and colour interpreting the world
  around especially in the relationship of buildings to their setting and t
 he energy they portray. I simplify by abstracting detail into related plai
 ns of colour.\n\nIn 2016 I was commissioned by the band Orchestral Manoeuv
 res in the Dark to produce artwork for the cover of their thirteenth Studi
 o Album ‘The Punishment of Luxury’ with further covers and related wor
 k. In 2019 completing a design for the windows of the phone box\, in Meols
 \, made famous through OMD’s second single release ‘Red Frame White Li
 ght’.\n\nDisplayed work for this exhibition covers the period from 2014
