SUMMARY:Victoria Gallery & Museum: Independents Biennial: Louise Waller’s
  20 Years of Clay
DESCRIPTION:Louise Waller’s 20 Years of Clay\nVictoria Gallery &amp\; Mus
 eum\, L69 3DR\nDate(s): 24/06/2023 - 31/12/2023\n10:00 am - 5:00 pm\n\nTh
e University of Liverpool’s Victoria Gallery and Museum (VGM) presents
Louise Waller – 20 Years of Clay\, an installation celebrating this Live
rpool artist’s two decades as a ceramicist.\n\nThis free exhibition open
s on 24 June 2023 and runs until the end of the year.\n\nFor this show Lou
ise has created a brand new collection of ceramics inspired by the type of
designs she worked on back in 2003 when she graduated from Liverpool Hope
University. Louise explains:\n\n“This interests me as I am now better s
killed to create some of the more ambitious designs that I wouldn’t hav
e been able to make then. The work I created for my degree was mainly vase
s and tall jugs with interesting handles. I still have my old sketchbooks
and have used them as a springboard for inspiration.”\n\nLike many artis
ts\, Louise juggles her own creative practice with employment in related f
ields. It has resulted in rich and eclectic experiences as a freelance art
ist educator\, running workshops and conducting gallery talks. All have co
ntributed to her unique visual language.\n\nAlongside working at Tate Live
rpool for 18 years\, Louise has been a Creative Apprentice Assessor\, invi
ted behind the scenes of museums\, galleries\, theatres and a whole array
of creative workplaces across the North West. She’s also taught cerami
cs\, art\, graphics and computer games design.\n\nLouise recently collabor
ated with the community of Prescot on a prestigious project to create almo
st 400 ceramic moneyboxes that are on permanent display in the box office
of the new Shakespeare North Playhouse.\n\nMrs Nicola Euston\, Head of M
useums and Galleries at the University of Liverpool\, comments:\n\nWe are
pleased to celebrate Louise’s 20 years as a professional ceramics artist
with this exhibition. She is a popular and respected figure in the cultur
al landscape of Liverpool and a very good friend to us here at the VG&amp\
;M.\n\nLouise is a Studio Member of Baltic Clay and is based at their prem
ises on Regent Road\, Liverpool L5.\n\nLouise Waller – 20 Years of Clay
is part of Independent Biennial 2023\n\nAbout the artist: Louise Waller
