SUMMARY:FACT: In Conversation: Rae-Yen Song 宋瑞渊 & Seema Mattu
DESCRIPTION:\n\nExhibiting artists Rae-Yen Song 宋瑞渊 and Seema Mattu d
iscuss their new solo exhibitions at FACT\, which invite audiences into ri
chly crafted worlds that rethink ideas of kinship and connection.\n\n\n\n\
n\n\nThe conversation will be hosted by FACT's Exhibitions Manager Charlot
te Horn\, as the artists explore their multi-disciplinary practices and ho
 w they approach world-building within their work.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRae-Yen
  Song\, •~TUA~• 大眼 •~MAK~• (2026). Installation view at Tram
way\, Glasgow. Courtesy of the artist. Photography by Keith Hunter.\n\n\n\
n\n\n\n\nRae-Yen Song 宋瑞渊 draws on the flux and resilience of the im
migrant experience to reimagine the world. For this exhibition\, the galle
ry is transformed into a darkened abyss\, suspended somewhere between the
deep sea and the skies above. Moving through this landscape\, Rae-Yen invi
tes us to reconsider our connections to ecosystems\, ancestors\, and the c
osmos around us.\n\nMusic is at the heart of so many of our lives\, whethe
r it's something we listen to\, create or experience together. LOCAL SUPE
RSTAR II explores this idea through music\, sculpture\, film and digital
animation in a new installation by artist Seema Mattu. The exhibition foll
ows the formation of Saheli\, a sonic entity of five South Asian queer wom
en: Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay\, MANI JNX\, Ushara Dilrukshan\, Zahrah Hutton
and Seema Mattu. The work’s focus on sonic joy\, musicality and collecti
vity stems from Seema’s personal experience of musical congregation as
seva - Sanskrit for selfless service.\n\n\n\n\n
