SUMMARY:Ma Boyle's Bar: IB18: Ma Boyle's: Liver Bards: The Earth Hums
DESCRIPTION:Liver Bards: The Earth Hums (poetry open mic\, Ma Boyle’s)
 – 8pm\n\nLiver Bards presents the ‘the Earth hums’ poetry event\n\nL
iver Bards marks the anniversary of the passing of Bengali polymath Rabind
ranath Tagore on August 7th 1941 with an evening of poetry and spoken word
that takes a snippet of one of his poems as its title: the Earth hums.\n\
nLiver Bards is a time and place for poets and those that like to be aroun
d them to get together and share their truths in an exquisite and intimate
space.\n\nOn the first Tuesday of every month\, we meet in Ma Boyle’s A
lehouse and Eatery\, downstairs\, behind the curtain of the Rum and Rumour
basement drinking den and cabaret bar.\n\nTurn up from 7.30 if you’d li
ke to put your name down for a slot (up to 5 mins) and the magic begins ar
ound 8.\n\nWe have one or two short breaks to rehydrate and ruminate. We f
inish our shenanigans by 10.30 when we greet the night renewed.\n\nLooking
forward to seeing all you creative souls there.\n\nCompere Ali remarks\,
‘Everyone is welcome to speak their words freely at Liver Bards. You can
use the title as a starting point or completely ignore it if you’ve got
a poem that needs to be shared. We’re happy to be part of the Independe
nts Biennial. Perhaps you might want to write a poem in response to some o
f the art you’ve seen at the festival. We look forward to seeing new and
familiar faces.’\n\nBiography\n\nAli Harwood is an artist\, poet\, writ
er and teacher. He searches for the places where myths become real. Ali’
s art appears from the walls of Jamaica Street to the screens of the Queen
Elizabeth Hall\; his poetry travels from the dance of kathak and its illu
minating power to hosting the monthly Liver Bards event\; he writes of dra
gons and stonecutters for all who are young at heart\; and he teaches in h
ome and schools by listening for where to start.
