SUMMARY:Art in Windows: IB18: Art in Windows: Adrian Jeans: Listen To the H
and 'Cause The Face Ain't Talking
DESCRIPTION:Dates: 1 - 31 July\, 2018\nLocation: 5 Bold Place\, Liverpool\,
L1 9DN\nTimes: 24/7\n\nSculptor Adrian Jeans explores the interplay betwe
en the practice of representational figurative sculpture and the idea of e
xpressive portraiture in the latest show by contemporary-art-in-empty-shop
-windows group Art In Windows.\n\nIn the title sculpture\, Jeans pairs one
of his characteristically rough\, but physiognomically mimetic portraits
with a sculpture of his own hand making the thumb-up gesture. The meaning
of the hand can be varied - thumb-up is good\, thumb down is bad - giving
a surreal but witty play-off between the dour face of someone who has sat
many hours for his portrait and the artist’s hand that can express a ful
l range of emotions.\n\nAlso on show is An Alphabet of Gestures - an impre
ssive array of over 100 drawings of a hand. This take on the classic\, art
-school exercise of repeatedly drawing a single object allows Jeans to tho
roughly explore and chart the seemingly endless possibilities of the hand
as an expressive medium\, seamlessly complementing and extending the conce
it of Listen To The Hand…\n\nwww.artinwindows.org\n\nwww.adrianjeans.co.
