SUMMARY:Huyton Library: Huyton Gallery: Cherie Grist: People
DESCRIPTION:Cherie Grist is Liverpool based practising Artist. She studied
Fashion Styling and Photography at the University of Arts London before re
turning to her home town to explore her creative practise and to be part o
f the Liverpool art scene. She is a full-time artist and co-founder of ‘
104 Duke Street Studios’ which is an artist studio/gallery space in Live
rpool city centre.\n\nMy main objective as an artist is to document my jou
rney through our ever-changing world\, observing\, growing and learning wi
th every situation life presents. My paintings are records of my existence
. They illustrate my day to day\, my ups and downs\, my madness and my cal
 m. When I paint\, I can express all the thoughts that are swirling around
my mind. My process is always automatic\, from the paint used to the metho
d in which I apply the marks. I combine abstract expression and focused gr
aphical marks and I see all my paintings as self-portraits.\n\nFor this se
ries of paintings\, I focused my interest on people and their behaviour an
d how situations in life change people for the better and for worse.\n\nCh
erie has been shortlisted for the John Moore’s Contemporary Painting Pri
ze\, the National Open Art prize and the Cass Art Prize and has had numero
us exhibitions in both London and Liverpool.\n\nPrivate View: Thursday 19
January\, 4.30 to 6.30pm. If you would like to attend\, please RSVP to Ti
 na Ball on 0151 443 5617 or tina.ball@knowsley.gov.uk. Please note this i
 s an RSVP event only.
