SUMMARY:HeadSpace at EggSpace: Headspace@EggSpace: blue skies & detritus je
wels\, a collection by nick watson
DESCRIPTION:blue skies &amp\; detritus jewels\,\na collection by Nick Watso
n\n\nWe are pleased to tell you this week we have a new exhibition startin
g with a collection of paintings by Nick Watson.\n\nPlease come along on T
hursday 22nd September for the private view from 7-8:30pm. Have a look aro
und at the artwork whilst sipping a beverage in the wonderful atmosphere a
t the egg.\n\nThe exhibition runs until 30th October if you can't make the
opening night\n\nHere's what the artist has to say about his work and ins
piration...\n\nEssentially I am an eco artist. I make paintings of idealis
ed landscapes\nunder blue skies and I use a lot of recycled and found mate
rials to make\nrelief pictures\, many of which could be described as detri
tus jewels as\nI like to create decorative pieces using reflective surface
s.\n\nI'm interested in blue sky because it represents something spiritual
for\nme - something above and beyond the cares of man and yet something\n
always with us. That something so beautiful\, so awesome and beyond real\n
comprehension exists at all hints at the presence of a benign creator in\n
the middle of all this darkness. The landscapes vary from imagined greek\n
mythologies to remembered parts of the british landscape which I've\nactua
lly visited. Some of the more recent blue sky pictures have applied\neleme
nts which I think adds another layer of complexity and visual\ninterest to
these pieces. I use dip pen and ink in a number of blue sky\npictures whi
ch represents my interests in abstraction - creating two\ndimensional shap
es to depict topographical form - and my historical\nexperience with drawi
ng in this medium\, something which goes back maybe\n25 years.
