  in a public installation and performance.\n\nInterested in travelling thr
 ough time and space? Interested in capturing Liverpool’s sound spaces an
 d recreating them in a new setting? Interested in performing in these spac
 es? Then Sound Lines is for you!\n\nDrawing on traditions of psychogeograp
 hy\, improvised noise performance\, soundscape research\, DIY technologies
  and public making practices\, we will create a performable installation t
 hat offers an imaginative remapping of Liverpool.\n\nBy capturing the uniq
 ue sound signatures of local spaces\, we will investigate various elements
  of the city\, creatively responding to their aural characteristics and re
 interpreting these materials through a publicly open process. We aim to bu
 ild a collection of environmentally responsive constructions\, allowing pa
 rticipants to experience and imagine new interpretations of the city.\n\nO
 ver the course of four days we invite the public to join us in a variety o
 f making activities relating to how we experience the city. Throughout thi
 s time we will be building a multi-channel sound and image installation cr
 eatively interpreting scavenged and recorded material from Liverpool. Our 
 public making process will allow visitors to get involved with the making 
 of various sonic constructions\, contribute recordings or just experience 
 the artwork as it is assembled live.\n\nOur work will be presented using v
 arious open-source technologies including Pure Data\, Arduino\, DIY electr
 onics and pen and paper.\n\nThe workshop will start in the mornings with f
 ield visits to selected sites and spaces of Liverpool that lie at the hear
 t of Liverpool’s identity. Here\, participants will be shown the methods
  used to sample the ambient resonance of the spaces using a new immersive 
 audio tool that utilizes third order ambisonic technology (developed by lo
 cal creative sound designer Stefan Kazassoglou).\n\nMaking activities will
  include 3D sound spatialisation techniques\, working with field recording
 s\, sound walks and environmentally reactive sound synthesis.\n\nNo previo
 us experience of the technologies is required and all materials will be pr
 ovided. Just drop in and join us.\n\nIn collaboration with Kinicho\, Newca
 stle University (John Bowers\, Tim Shaw)\, and the Creative Exchange\, FAC
 T are looking for ten participants to join us for four days to explore the
  different acoustic and material qualities of space through sound – and 
 capturing\, then re-creating this in the FACTLab.\n\nThe event is free –
  with lunch\, transportation and entry fees to sites also covered – all 
 we need is your enthusiasm and participation! Please note that we will be 
 visiting different locations on each day. Participants can choose to come 
 to all four days\, or drop into one of the recording days (between 23 - 25
  August) and it is recommended all attend the workshop itself on 26 August
 .\n\nThe findings from the Sound Lines making sessions will be exhibited t
 o the wider public in a showcase of Sonic Spaces at FACT (19 – 23 Octobe
 r).
