SUMMARY:FACT: FACT: Liverpool Biennial 2023 at FACT
DESCRIPTION:10 June – 17 September 2023\n\n\nExhibition is open weekly on
  Tuesday\, Wednesday\, Thursday\, Friday\, Saturday &amp\; Sunday. Check v
enue opening times for further information.\nAt FACT Liverpool\, Belinda K
azeem-Kamiński’s ‘Respire (Liverpool)’ (2023) references the precar
ity of Black breathing and proposes breath as a means of individual and co
llective liberation\n\nAccompanied by ‘Keep On Keepin’ On (for Nile)
’ (2023)\, a soundscape created in collaboration with sound-artist Bassa
no Bonelli Bassano\, Kazeem-Kamiński’s video work is committed to givin
g space to Black breathing to expand and exist freely.\n\nDedicating the e
xhibition space to this expansion\, Kazeem-Kamiński’s presents a multim
edia-based and hauntingly visceral experience in which the sound moves in
waves from the individual to the communal and back again. By positioning b
reath as a somatic response to violence but also to pleasure and connectio
n\, the works investigate breath as a compass to guide along the precariou
s line between catastrophe and aliveness.\n\nFilmed here in Liverpool with
local participants\, ‘Respire (Liverpool)’ explores the possibilities
to breathe freely despite the burden of an ongoing past. Together\, the p
erformers share\, hold and imagine breathing space for each other\, themse
lves and others\, blurring lines between past\, present and future.\n\n
