SUMMARY:FACT: FACT: Critical Thinking: Art in Prisons Course
DESCRIPTION:Critical Thinking: Art in Prisons Course\n\nWeekly From Monday
 26 October 2015\,  18.00 - 21.00\nFACT MediaLab\n£210 for the full 6 wee
k course. Book via FACT\n\nThis course\, written and delivered by Hannah H
ull\, is aimed at artists and arts practitioners who are working - or woul

combines practice and theory\, and will leave you with a critically inform
ed and viable prison arts proposal under your belt… plus a series of cri
tical tools that will positively affect your broader art practice.\n\nThe
focus of this course is to help artists and arts practitioners working in
prisons (or who may wish to work in prisons)\, to identify their critical
position and where they would be best placed to realise their aims. It wil
l inform participants about the level and type of support they can expect
from the prison service\; provide guidance on how to navigate the prison s
ystem\; and advise on ways to instil critical thought in prisoners\, both
during and beyond the time-frame of an intervention.\n\n"I feel that the c
ontent\, the teaching method and the group dynamic has really opened me up
to a way of thinking and working that will stay with me for a long time.
”\n\n“I have discovered lots about myself\, my practice\, my views on
the criminal justice system and I feel empowered to want to take this furt
her.”\n\nAbout the course leader:\nHannah Hull is an artist\, researcher
and coach. She is founder of ART vs REHAB and Critical Spaces\, two natio
nal initiatives to support critical thinking within socially-engaged art p
ractice. Hannah studied BA Fine Art and PGCert Innovation in Practice at G
oldsmiths\, University of London\, where she currently holds pratice-based
PhD studentship.\n\nPlease note: when booking tickets\, the fee for the c
ourse must be paid in two instalment\, in full by 26 October. Your ticket
will not be valid until both instalments have been paid and we will email
you to remind you about the second instalment before the first session.\n\
