 bsp\;\n\nExchange Flags\, a public square by Liverpool’s Town Hall\, is 
 the grand setting for Holly Hendry’s new large-scale commission. The sc
 ulpture takes the form of ‘pipe’ sections made from Glass Reinforced C
 oncrete (GRC) and reflects the artist’s interest in the city’s archite
 cture\, from the Williamson tunnels that were purportedly built for land r
 eclamation\, to the old dock buried under Liverpool ONE. To bring together
  this new work\, Hendry researched materials and material processes tied t
 o Liverpool\, particularly the techniques of the major ship builders of Me
 rseyside\, the use of cast iron for manhole covers\, and the city’s pion
 eering employment of architectural supports and precast concrete in panell
 ed buildings.\n\nHolly Hendry\, Cenotaph\, 2018 is commissioned by Liverp
 ool Biennial and Liverpool BID Company
