SUMMARY:Editions Ltd: Editions Ltd: Peter Macaulay - Not quite a life's wo
 rk...
DESCRIPTION:Peter Macaulay - Not quite a life's work...\n\n\nPrivate View
  5.30-8pm Thursday 23rd August - until 22nd September\n\nThis exhibitio
n celebrates the work of one of Merseyside's little known but but most gif
ted artists. His work continues to surprise\, increasingly abstract\, at ti
mes surreal. Always arresting yet maintaining the elegance of the human fi
gure.\n\nPeter Macaulay explores and develops what has been for him a life
long source of inspiration... the human figure. The figures are quickly sk
etched and at all times treated to a degree of abstraction. He moves seemi
ngly effortlessly between representation and abstraction and makes great p
lay of the space between those opposing points. Despite the free flowing l
ines there is a solid geometry within his compositions.\n\nPeter Macaulay
spent 25 years in advertising and publishing. He developed businesses in M
anchester and London and worked on a variety of photographic and design as
signments in the UK\, Europe and America.\n\nIn 2000 he was able to give u
p working as creative head of Littlewoods to concentrate on making his own
images. Winner of the Laird Memorial prize and the Charles Oliver Award f
or painting\, in 2012 he was invited to judge the annual exhibition of The
National Acrylic Painters Association.\n\nHe has exhibited widely across
the UK including the Walker Art Gallery\, John Moores University as well a
s galleries in London and St.Ives. His work hangs in several private colle
ctions in both the UK and Europe.
