re excited to have the opportunity to show the work of two artists who are
both producing exceptional paintings. Their work sits very comfortably to
gether showing similar influences but different subject matter. The work\,
though sometimes displaying an international theme\, is rooted in their n
ative Liverpool.\n\nElaine Preece Stanley was born in 1970 in Huyton\, Liv
erpool. She studied and gained a BA at Liverpool Hope University before ex
hibiting in Cheshire and Liverpool galleries.\n\nIn 2013 Elaine was electe
d a member of The Royal Cambrian Academy Conwy\, Wales. She regularly exhi
bits with them and participates with projects involved with the RCA such a
s LLAWN. Elaine was selected for the ING Discerning Eye competition in 201
6 (exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London)\n\n"These paintings are most
ly of landscapes using oil on canvas or board. The landscapes are of place
s I have visited often from childhood to present day. It is part of a proc
ess of interaction between past and present - memories and experiences."\n
\nClaire McCarthy was born and raised in Liverpool. In 2001 she received a
BA Honours in Fine Art (major) with Psychology from Liverpool University\
, by attending Liverpool Hope University College\n\nClaire has exhibited a

and Cornerstone Gallery from 2001 - 2017.\n\nFrom May 2016 until this spri
ng\, Claire boarded the local Mersey Ferries and landing stages challengin
g herself to build a fresh portfolio from 'plein air' painting. This work
captures the turbulent and restless nature of the River Mersey as well as
its serenity and natural rhythms.\n"The paintings vary from watercolours w
hich are mere wisps of colour to big bold canvases\, these extremes reflec
ting the range of life and industry of the river in all its moods."
