SUMMARY:Editions Ltd: Editions Ltd: City Shards\, Anne Desmet
DESCRIPTION:City Shards - Anne Desmet\n\nPrivate view - Thursday 8th Decemb
er 5.30-8.00pm\n- until 11th January\n\nIt has been far too long since we
last hosted a solo exhibition by one of our favourite printmakers. Anne De
smet is an internationally renowned printmaker who lives and works in Lond
on but often returns to the architecture of her native Livepool for inspir
ation for new pieces. Anne's work is known for featuring iconic architectu
re from London and Italy\, using the highly controlled medium of wood-engr
aving to fashion incredibly detailed renderings of significant buildings.
However\, she alway manages to include exquisite descriptions of her Liver
pool favourites.\n\nAlthough Anne works in a traditional medium she experi
ments with techniques that add new dimensions to her subjects and this sho
w features both her more traditional printmaking combined with collages of
her work on ceramics.\n\n--\n\nAnne Desmet RA is an established artist wh
o specialises in wood engravings\, linocuts and mixed media collages. She
has had three major museum retrospectives to date\, received over 30 inter
national awards\, and her work is in museum collections and publications w
orldwide. She was elected a Member of London's Royal Academy of Arts in Ma
y 2011. For 15 years she was editor of Printmaking Today magazine and is t
he author/editor of three printmaking books.
