SUMMARY:Bluecoat: DadaFest: Literature & Creative Word with Owen Lowery & S
 ally Edwards
DESCRIPTION:Established poets\, Dr Owen Lowery and Sally Edwards come toget
her for an evening of literature and creative word.\n\nOwen Lowery is a hi
ghly respected poet\, performer\, academic\, and reviewer. His two acclaim
ed collections published by Carcanet press\, Otherwise Unchanged (2012)\,
and Rego Retold (2015) have been critically acclaimed. Owen is famed for i
ntegrating his ventilator into his performances.\n\nFocusing on the theme
of “escape”\, Owen’s performance begins with poems about the places
he’s had to escape from\, and gradually moves on to those that mean the
world to us – the ones that we want to escape to. Owen will round off th
e evening with works focusing on his personal life – his marriage\, fami
ly relationships and interests.\n\nSally Edwards began to write three year
s ago after retiring from a successful Inclusive Dance career. She realise
d there was a gap in the visibility of Disability/LGBT artists creating wo
rk. She took this on personally by writing a story which was later publish
ed as her first Novel ”How To Love”. Her work helps to raise awareness
of Disabled LGBT artists and influences people to become more visible and
  pursue careers in the arts.
