SUMMARY:The Cow & Co Cafe: Cow & Co.: Mark Simmonds: Bad Scouse
DESCRIPTION:MARK SIMMONDS: BAD SCOUSE\n\n"The container will never interest
me as much as the contained\, but where would I pour my wine without a gl
ass - and it is between the poles of the inseparability of the two that my
anxiety at not finding a definite solution will oscillate\, which could b
e interpreted positively as the desire for instability and change."\n- Dan
 iel Spoerri\, The Mythological Travels... (1970)\n\nBAD SCOUSE\n\nSunday 2
 8th August\, 2016\n18:00-21:00\nThe Cow &amp\; Co Cafe\nCleveland Sq.\nLiv
erpool\nL1 5BE\n\nMark Simmonds presents a study in three parts: performan
ce\, meal and artwork.\n\nBAD SCOUSE draws parallels between 'high' and 'l
ow' culture\, using Daniel Spoerri's 'The Mythological Travels...' as an a
nchor point. Simmonds' ongoing fascination with the graphic language of ta
keaway food provides the basis for a sprawling triptych of works that cons
ider the movements of peoples and culture. Geology and rock formations als
o provide a grounding upon which the foundations of Bad Scouse are built.
Simmonds reflects on the use of photography in fast food advertising\; exp
loring the origins of fast food and how it came to define generations of p
eople.\n\nTaking inspiration from fast food\, rocks\, minerals and local h
eroes\, the artist will examine the physical and psychological spaces that
surround food.\n\nThis event will be accompanied by a three course meal\,
a performance and an exclusively editioned artwork for each of the guests
in attendance.\n\nBad Scouse is strictly limited and tickets must be boug
ht in advance here.\n\nMark Simmonds’ practice encompasses graphic desig
n\, performance\, writing and publishing. His work often considers the var
ious unclaimed signs and symbols latent in cultural information and its di
ssemination. He is a former participant of Masters programme Werkplaats Ty
pografie\, Arnhem\; and he has lived and worked in London and Berlin. He i
s currently based in Liverpool\, working from his studio at The Royal Stan
 dard.\n\nwww.marksimmonds.info\n\nComissioned by Tžužjj\n\nwww.tzuzjj.co
