SUMMARY:Cornerstone: Cornerstone: Resonating Stages - A Postgraduate Sympos
 ium
DESCRIPTION:\n\nNB: This event takes place in the Cornerstone Refectory (Ca
fe 1846) and Cornerstone Theatre (COR 001) at Liverpool Hope University Cr
 eative Campus\, 17 Shaw Street\, Liverpool L6 1HP.\n\n--\n\nPlease note th
at sales for this event end on Sunday 10th March\, so if you are a member
of the public planning to attend\, please purchase your tickets by the end
of the day on that date.\n\nAs space is limited for this event\, Liverpoo
l Hope University students and members of staff must contact the organiser
s (Annabel Little 19009668@hope.ac.uk and Fabiola Inacio Santana 22014371@
hope.ac.uk) by Sunday 10th March at the latest\, to confirm their attendan
ce.\n\n--\n\nThe 2024 edition of Resonating Stages\, the Postgraduate Symp
osium by the School of Creative and Performing Arts\, moves away from the
traditional conference format and takes the form of a day of curated event
s conceived to nurture connection and stimulate discourse among our postgr
aduate community as well as provide moments of reflection and consolidatio
n for all  participants.\n\nReaching out across disciplines and into the
past\, we will be learning more about the origins of the institution we ar
e part of with a talk by Oliver Mumford\, a PhD researcher from the depart
ment of history who will be sharing his recent work and curatorial approac
h to the exhibition Imperial Hope? Colonial pasts at Liverpool Hope Univer
sity currently showing at the Sheppard-Worlock Library.\n\nFollowing on fr
om this\, we will be exploring ways in which artistic practice might be en
gaged in the telling and processing of the complex and sensitive stories t
hat emerge from this new perspective and understanding of the history of t
he University and its founding colleges. Taking potentially challenging pa
sts out of the archive\, to highlight how they impact our present material
ities\, deepening our understanding of the processes and methodologies tha
t work to activate change.\n\nWhile considering the connections and intera
ctions of the institution in relation to a much wider context\, we would a
lso like to use this process as an opportunity to reflect on the position
of the Creative and Performing Arts within the academy\, their importance
in relation to critical thinking\, the communication of thoughts and ideas
and capacity to model collective assemblages to redefine what we are capa
ble of doing.\n\nThe programme has been developed by PhD researchers from
the School of Creative and Performing Arts\, Fabiola Santana and Annabel L
ittle under the mentorship of Associate Professor Silvia Battista. This ev
ent is open to all but due to the participatory nature of the event\, tick
et numbers are limited and booking is essential.\n\n\nTicket Details\n\n£
