DESCRIPTION:Utopia Deferred: Painting by Paul Collinson\, Conor Rogers and 
 Mandy Payne\nOpen Wednesday to Friday\, 1pm-5pm\n\n\nThis exhibition brin
 gs together three Yorkshire based painters who featured in the 2014 John M
 oores Painting Prize Exhibition\; one a prize winner. Mandy Payne is in th
 is year’s John Moores Painting Prize exhibition.\n\nEach painter makes u
 se of ubiquitous and often found materials of their urban landscape – co
 ncrete\, aerosol paints\, rubbish\, cig packets\, crisp packets\, paper ad
 vertising. Lottery scratch cards\, condoms –on which to paint\, as sourc
 e material or as direct reference. It could be seen as the perfect up-cycl
 ing cycle\, making use of the discarded and useless outpourings of the cit
 y.\n\nBut this is no mere exercise in decorative ‘making do’. There is
  meaning here in the act of painting and how painters paint now when it wo
 uld seem that everything has been painted and painted in every possible wa
 y.  But\, essentially\, the three painters in this proposal ask a questio
 n about the places they live and work in\, the cities of Sheffield and Hul
 l: that question is ‘how do we dwell?’\n\nFor more information please
