SUMMARY:Corke Gallery: Corke Gallery: Summer Evenings 2019
DESCRIPTION:Summer Evenings 2019 at Corke Gallery\n21 June - 26 July 2019\
 nCorke Gallery\, Liverpool\, UK\nCorke Gallery’s new Summer Evenings e
xhibition\, curated by Nic Corke\, features a floor to ceiling ‘salon-ha
ng’ in the Gallery’s five rooms\, displaying a diverse range of large
and small paintings by over 30 artists\, until the end of July 2019.\nWork
s featured in the show include artists for whom this is their first show a
t the Corke Gallery. Gareth Kemp who is also exhibiting in this year’s R
oyal Academy Summer Exhibition\, the 2018 and 2019 Winners of the Hope Uni
versity Fine Art Degree Exhibition Prize\, selected exhibitors and winners
of prizes in the John Moores Painting Prize in the UK and three winners o
f the 2018 JMPP China\, Duan Xiaogang\, Huo Xumin and Xueqing Zhong\, plus
two times winner of the JMPP Visitor’s Choice Prize Nicholas Middleton.
The exhibition also features a large selection of works by writer and b
roadcaster Andrew Marr\, fresh from exhibiting in Venice and his sell out
show in Edinburgh\, who the Corke Gallery has represented\, as an artist\,
since 2017.\nGiven the number of artists and paintings in the show there
is only one way to display them so visitors will be treated to an old-fash
ioned ‘salon hang’ of the sort that used to be de rigueur\, in which
each painting is placed not at eye level and in isolation but with paintin
gs tightly crammed in uneven ranks up and down the walls.\nTo reflect the
range of artists featured in the Summer Evenings exhibition the hung wil
l be in a non-hierarchical\, visually accessible and exciting format so th
at works by less well known and established artists can be discovered next
to each other.\nArtists included in Summer Evenings 2019 are: John Affl
 ick\, Abiana Bore\, Brian Burgess\, Stephanie Carr\, Paul Collinson\, Geor
ge Drought\, John Elcock\, Louise Emily Stewart\, Clare Flinn\, Harry Garn
 er\, Paul Gent\, Jason Jones\, Mia Jones\, Gareth Kemp\, Andrew Marr\, Cle
ment McAleer (RUA\, RHA)\, Eleanor McCusker\, Paul Mellor\, Nicholas Middl
 eton\, Ruth Morrissey\, Zahara Parwez\, Peter Philip\, Jon Pontain\, Louis
 e Emily Stewart\, Mel Sullivan\, Aurel Tar\, John Vesty\, Jules Ward\, Dua
n Xiaogang\, Huo Xumin and Zhong Xueqing.\nAlso new for this exhibition\,
our summer opening hours will be every Thursday\, Friday and Saturday even
ing from 6.30pm - 8.30pm until Friday 26 July 2019.\nThe show opens on Fri
day 21 June from 6.30pm. Regular and new visitors to the gallery are welco
me to come and enjoy the work and a complimentary drink.
