SUMMARY:Birkenhead Priory: Convenience Gallery: All Paths Lead To the River
 \, closing ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Join us for ‘All Paths Lead To The River’ closing ceremony
on Saturday 31st August.\n\nWe are saying goodbye to the river spirits as
their procession comes to an end. Join us on Saturday 31st August to celeb
rate with some medieval inspired foods and drinks from 1-3pm at Birkenhead
Priory.\n\nCamille show has been going on across the summer at bIrkenhead
priory since Saturday 11th of may and has seen 1000s of visitors.\n\nMore
about Camille Smithwick’s ‘All Paths Lead To The River’:\n\nThe uns
een becomes seen as a mystical procession of River Sprites reveal themselv
es at the ancient Priory. Local artist Camille Smithwick has created a ser
ies of new sculptures exploring the significance of the River Mersey in th
e founding of Birkenhead.\n\nTaking inspiration from folklore her characte
rs emerge from the watery landscape\, personifying the eternal flow and en
ergy of the river that has shaped our landscape\, people and culture. The
unerring force of the river pulls us like a magnet towards it\; it is welc
oming and bountiful yet also severe and formidable\; a creator and a destr
oyer that reflects the duality and cyclical nature of life.\n\nThe Priory
has been chosen as the setting for the exhibition due to it being the site
of one of the earliest crossings across the Mersey\, the monks being earl
y challengers of the currents and tides\; whilst the adjacent Cammell Lair
d shipyard offers a striking juxtaposition that demonstrates our continuin
g desire to harness the power of the river\n\nJoin us for the final event
and make sure to book your tickets and confirm your place at the closing c
 eremony.\n\nLocation: Birkenhead Priory\nDate: Saturday 31st August\nTime:
1-3pm\nTickets: free or donation (please pre book)\n\nBOOK HERE
