SUMMARY:FACT: Can Meeple Escape the Neurophoria?
DESCRIPTION:Can Meeple Escape the Neurophoria? is an exhibition that looks
at how our relationship with intelligent technologies\, such as AI\, is c
hanging. It explores how this shift shapes our sense of self\, our ability
to make choices\, and our connection to machines as we evolve alongside t
 hem.\n\nWednesday-Sunday\n11:00-18:00\nFree entry\n\n\n\nCurated by FACT
’s 2025 Curator-in-Residence\, Milia Xin Bi\, the exhibition draws inspi
ration from tabletop games\, where every player’s decision rewrites the
story. In this exhibition\, you become the meeple: a human-shaped game pie
ce whose actions have real-world consequences. The artworks invite you to
take part\, make decisions\, and consider how your actions influence our t
echnological future.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVytas Jankauskas reflects on the c
limate crisis\, human existence and technological development\, revealing
the pleasure and pain that emerge from their entanglement. Jan Zuiderveld
’s works create encounters between people and machine-learning algorithm
s placed inside physical objects\, highlighting how we often see certain b
ehaviours as signs of life. Joseph Wilk's tabletop game positions play as
a form of resistance against the political ideas built into many technolog
ies.\n\nStep into this playful world\, test the boundaries and discover th
e impact of your choices. Together\, these artworks ask: in a world shaped
by intelligent systems\, who makes the next move?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFACT’s 2
025 Curator-in-Residence is supported by the John Ellerman Foundation.\n\n
Can Meeple Escape the Neurophoria? is supported by the Swiss Arts Council
Pro Helvetia. FACT is funded by Arts Council England\, Liverpool City Cou
ncil\, with support from Culture Liverpool.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
